SIS - The Cook Book that inspires young People
One of the projects that moved us at Kaigan TBK in many ways was the close cooperation with Statens Institutionsstyrelse (SIS). The project had the admirable objective of inspiring young people to develop an interest in cookery and increase their knowledge of meals for their own sense of achievement and well being. The project has resulted in a cookbook with recipes, inspiring literature and images that all young people receive when they leave their SIS institution.
Three cooks from the Chef of the Year association have recently been selected to visit youth centers to cook food together with young people and personnel. Those three cooks, Andreas Hedlund, Gustav Trägårdh and Peter J Skogström, have all won the Chef of the Year award.
SIS supplied the text and images. Our talented directors at Kaigan TBK designed the layout of the cookbook, which created a modern and youthful tone designed to appeal to a young audience. Together this has created simplicity in both layout and text so that the young readers can easily find the recipes and dietary tips they are looking for.
SIS produced some of the images themselves and others have been purchased to suit the recipes. We reproduced all the images to ensure a uniform style.
- The result was fantastic. We are unbelievably proud of Kaigan TBK's efforts to help young people find a better lifestyle and we hope that our contribution will inspire young people to try the recipes in the cookbook, says Lena Rodén, Account Manager at Kaigan TBK.
Statens Institutionsstyrelse (SIS or the National Board of Institutional Care) runs compulsory care for young people and adults with substance abuse problems.
